UCDATA's new director, Martin Sanchez-Jankowski, won the prestigious C. Wright Mills award at the Annual Meetings of the American Sociological Association, for his recently published book, Cracks in the Pavement: Social Change and Resilience in Poor Neighborhoods, University of California Press.

THE HISTORIC ANNA HEAD BUILDING
UC DATA is housed in one of the 1892 buildings of the prestigious private boarding school for girls: The Anna Head School. In 1979, the Anna Head School school became co-educational and is now known as the Head-Royce School in Oakland, California.

CCRDC Meetings
September 22nd and 23rd, key researchers from the Census and NCHS visited UC Berkeley, UCSF and Stanford University to talk about Non-Public Microdata Resources in the CCRDC. These meetings generated a great deal of interest in the the CCRDC, which provides researchers access to restricted data.
