Dataset Description This file contains data from the second wave of interviews with the sample of English and Spanish speaking AFDC recipients who were first interviewed in 1993 and 1994. Of the original 2,215 respondents from the first wave, 1,764 respondents were located and agreed to be interviewed. The file includes background information on the respondents from the first wave interviews and updated information on their experiences since the last interview. Variables are included to allow you to match children and adults from the first interview with persons currently living in the household. Information collected includes case identifying information, respondent information, household information, respondent's AFDC history, respondent's housing situation, quality of life, respondent's health, respondent's children's health history, respondent's education and job history, spouse's education and job history, respondent's and spouse's income, child support, child care and knowledge of AFDC rules.

Dataset Description The Survey File contains information on a sample of AFDC recipients in the four research counties who speak Armenian, Cambodian, Laotian or Vietnamese. These four languages were chosen because each of these language groups constituted one percent or more of the research county caseloads. Information collected includes case identifying information, respondent information, household information, respondent's AFDC history, respondent's housing situation, quality of life, respondent's health, respondent's children's health history, respondent's education and job history, spouse's education and job history, respondent's and spouse's income, child support, child care, knowledge of AFDC rules, refugee status, ESL classes and refugee camp experiences.
