UC DATA is open to all users of social science data. In order to make the most of limited staff time, we distinguish among three groups of users (in order of priority):

1. Primary clientele: Current faculty, students and staff at the University of California at Berkeley. Usage of many datasets is restricted to this clientele.

2. Secondary users: Defined by cooperative agreements, or contractual or special arrangements entered into by UC DATA. Cooperative agreements, such as those with other UC Campuses, secure reciprocal benefits to the Data Archive. Contractural agreements may be limited to services specifically designated, and do not necessarily provide for the range of resources and services offered to UC DATA's primary clientele. Some contractual agreements may be based on fees rather than reciprocal benefits.

3. Extramural users are those not described in the two groups above.

If you or your organization would like data access through UC DATA which is not already offered through the Internet, please contact us regarding the services we offer and our fee structure.
