MyData - ICPSR's User Registration System is now available. All users will be prompted to register for access. The only login and password you need to download data from ICPSR is one you create yourself by activating a MyData account.
Access is based on a list of our campus IP addresses on file at ICPSR.

The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), located within the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan, is a membership-based, not-for-profit organization serving member colleges and universities in the United States and abroad. ICPSR provides:

Access to the world's largest archive of computerized social science data.
Training facilities for the study of quantitative social analysis techniques.
Resources for social scientists using advanced computer technologies.

As a student, faculty or staff member at the University of California, Berkeley, you are authorized to access the data resources of ICPSR. Any study you request is the property of ICPSR's member institutions. By downloading the data, you signify that you agree not to share the data with anyone other than faculty members, students, or staff of the University of California Berkeley.

ICPSR codebooks are available electronically and can be downloaded from the ICPSR web site. In addition, UC DATA owns print copies of many of the codebooks.

Codebooks are shelved in alphabetical order by ICPSR study title in the Data Archive - Room C103 of the Survey Research Center 2538 Channing Way. Codebooks may be used in the archive or borrowed for copying (4-hr limit).

Researchers may browse the codebook collection during regular business hours (Mon-Thurs 9:00-12:00, 1:00-5:00) or request archive staff to check for a particular codebook by sending e-mail with the ICPSR study number and title to ucdata@berkeley.edu.
