UC BERKELEY'S PRINCIPAL ARCHIVE OF SOCIAL SCIENCE DATA
WELCOME TO UC DATA!

Who are we:

We are UC Berkeley's principal archive of digitized social science data and statistics, and operate as a part of the new UC Berkeley's Social Science Data Lab (D-Lab).

What we do:

We support the social science data needs of UC Berkeley researchers. We provide access to a broad range of computerized social science data to faculty, staff, and students at UC Berkeley. We help researchers understand the content and context of social science data, including geography, weighting, complex designs, and missing data. We provide and support careful and thorough analysis of special issues, problems, programs and populations.

How we do it:

  • We are part of the U.S. Census Bureau's State Data Center Network (SDB/BIDC). We serve as the regional center for distributing U.S. Census data in California.

  • We are Official Representatives for ICPSR and the Roper Center and distributor for the California/Field Poll. We provide access to these data to the entire UC Berkeley Campus.

  • In the CCRDC, we partner with the U.S. Census Bureau to facilitate innovative research by providing access to Census data that would otherwise be unavailable.

  • We provide technical assistance in producing new datasets from administrative and other data sources.

  • We provide consultation and assistance on data analysis.

  • We broaden use of social science data analysis and collaboration through campus outreach.

  • We act as a "good citizen" in the data archive community, the census data center community, and the academic community by sharing resources and expertise for the benefit of all.

  • And more...
  • Read our Mission Statement for further information on our activities as UC Berkeley's principal social science data archive.
